Oh Well

Oh well of life--please give me water to drink
Dim grow my eyes and my head it cannot think
It feels like it's been years since your water has touched my lips
Is this the truth? I fear my life has been eclipsed
Time outstripped!
Please, just one sip!

I know you're there, deep inside
If I look I can find where you are, deep inside
On the outside!

Oh well of life--your water tastes so good!
I feel sharp as a knife; you brought me back--I knew you could!
If you promise to be mine, I'll say I'm yours forevermore
If life can be this fine, then life is what I'm living for
I don't need more!
I won't keep score!

I know you're there, deep inside
If I look I can find where you are, deep inside
On the outside!
On the outside!

As I mentioned in "The purpose of this blog," this song deals with that ecstatic "on top of the world" feeling. You know, the one that makes you feel like you could deal with the WORST circumstances no problems? For me, such moments are brief and far between--most of the time I find myself groping blindly for the wellspring of energy and almost mystical awareness that comes with such a state. Does it come from within us, or from some external force? Is there really any difference? I'd get down on my knees and beg for a life completely occupied by this sort of moment, but the rare occurrence is enough to keep me going most of the time. Written after completing my undergraduate thesis--I daresay I deserved a moment of buoyancy after that computer-staring marathon.

Those are great lyrics. When reading them I could sense the passion. Awesome poetry!!!
